I am a California girl at heart who is lucky enough to live in one of the most wonderful, un-California cities in the world, New York. Most days, you'll find me exploring my new home with my amazing husband and our dog, Friday. I love to travel, eat just about anything with peanut butter, meet new friends, shop, read, take pictures, and spoil other peoples' kids and pets rotten. This blog includes my rants and raves about my personal life as well as my adventures in the photography business.

Inspired by fashion, art, and pop culture, I love to capture images using natural light. Although I enjoy taking all kinds of pictures, my style veers towards lifestyle and editorial photography and my favorite subjects are people. I am a photographer purely for the love of it, and I think you'll see that reflected in my work.

Thank you for stopping by and please feel free to leave a comment!

Life in New York City

Although I can't imagine calling anywhere but California home, life in New York City can be pretty amazing.  We've spent these first six months living here continually amazed by the energy and diversity of this great city.  What better place to ring in the New Year?

Here is a peek of phone photos from our fall travels as well as life in NYC.

Thanks for hanging in here with me this year as so many changes were going on and this blog was pretty neglected.  I hope wherever you are, you are enjoying time with family and friends!  Have a blessed upcoming year.

xoxo,

Central Park - Manhattan | Jackie + Tristan

Fall in Central Park sometimes really is just like the movies... the gorgeous leaves changing and the thinned out crowds can turn a casual walk into a romantic ramble... and this lovely couple certainly makes a mini-session in November look cinema-worthy!

Enjoy,

Giving Back: Honduras 2013

Last week, we got back from an absolutely amazing trip to Honduras.  I feel like we really got to see so much of the country, as we travelled to one of the main cities, Tegucigalpa, to an island with beautiful diving, Roatan, and finally to the mountains of Teupasenti to work with Children's Rescue Mission.  The goal of the Mission is relief, education, and empowerment and we really got to experience each of these parts of the organization's work, whether we were packing and delivering bags of food to needy families, helping at the soup kitchen, visiting their classrooms, or playing a game of soccer with the local kids.

The main goal of our trip was to build a computer lab with the help of Softchoice Cares and that was a huge success.  Neither the local high school or the community center had computers for their students to work on.  In a country where having some basic computer skills could exponentially increase their earning power and help a family rise out of poverty, the computer lab will serve a vital role in the local high school training as well as provide opportunities for distance education and cultural connections.  We were so inspired by the work of the CR Mission, and filled with hope as we saw the joy in the children's faces and thought about the long-term impact the lab will have on the community.

The Mission needs help supporting the cost of maintaining an Internet connection for the computers, as well as purchasing Spanish keyboards and learning software.  We'd also like to help them build a library.  If you'd like to help, please visit this link.

And of course, I'm thrilled to share some photos from our trip...

Enjoy!

Like most brides before an outdoor summer wedding, Marin knew that she was at the will of nature to some degree.  However, unlike most brides, a major fire in the weeks leading up to her big day threatened not only her carefully planned backyard wedding, but also her hometown of Idyllwild and nearby communities.  After a mandatory evacuation, she and her fiance, Brad, sent out a notice that the wedding might have to be moved.  Then they just had to wait, praying for those fighting the fire and for the safety of their neighbors and homes.

With just days to go, they finally got clearance to return to her parents' home and were thrilled to find there was no damage to the property and no lingering smoke in the air.  They had lost weeks in which to prepare and finalize last minute details, but their friends and families rallied around them, pitching in to ensure that the wedding Marin had dreamed of - a rustic-chic wedding with touches of red, white, and blue - would come together in a place steeped in meaning for her and her family.  And at last, on their big day, Marin walked down the aisle with her parents and met Brad under the outdoor canopy of oak trees, surrounded by friends and family who traveled across the country and even oceans to see them marry, and everything was exactly as it should have been.

     Enjoy,
